Purple Minion Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 (edited) Latin America is a very dynamic region with expanding audience and grosses in local currency. Sadly due to shrinking exchange rates, the gross in US$ is lower in 2015 than in previous years. For box office purposes, it comprises the following markets: Mexico Central America and some of the biggest Caribbean islands (usually reported as Panama) Trinidad, Suriname and smaller Caribbean islands (usually reported as Trinidad) Colombia Venezuela Ecuador Brazil Peru Bolivia Argentina Chile Uruguay Paraguay In 2015, Mexico (US$0.9B), Brazil (US$0.8B), Venezuela (US$0.3B) and Argentina (US$0.2B) were the Top 4 in terms of US$ gross. Since it's hard to find details for the whole area, decided to open this thread to ask for help, gather numbers and find out which are the best grossing and most viewed movies in Latin America, as well as potential forecasts. Any other info exchange is welcome. Edited December 1 by Purple Minion 1 Quote

jornacio Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Star Wars surpassed 1Million Tickets in Chile (and is really close to 1.1Million), probably its going to end at 1.3 (hollywood movies here tend to be REALLY front loaded). That is a good result for a December release here (the strongest box office time is July and October here) 1 Quote
PanaMovie Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 (edited) Found this today Box Office Report of Panama in 2015 According to the report 5,750,000 people attended theaters in Panama last year which would be an increase of 13.3% over 2014 (We are approximately 4 million people so I assume it has to be total admissions). Therefore, the number of cinemas and screens display has been rising. About 80 in early 2014, it became 99 in 2015, spread over 14 cinema complexes throughout the country, according to records of the Association of Film Distributors. In 2016 it is expected to have 135 screens across the country and within these the first IMAX screen in Panama. This are admissions numbers And the Top 10 was: 1. Fast and Furious 7 2. Avengers: Age of Ultron 3. Minions 4. Jurassic World 5. San Andreas 6. Star Wars: The Force Awakens (still in theaters) 7. Hotel Transylvania 2 8. Inside Out 9. The Hunger Games: Mockigjay Part II 10.
