Yeah, it looks like it, but I actually selected those two films very carefully.

-They were both released on Friday. (Yeah, hardly special)

-They both grossed less than $100M domestic after inflation.

-They both opened between #2 and #5.

-They're both rated R.

-They both opened in 3000+ theater locations.

-They were both non-Memorial Day releases in May.

And yet, a crummy horror film marketed at teens and college kids and a crappy comedy (also marketed at teens and college kids) are both terrible comps for a dramatic thriller aimed at thirtysomethings and up.

lmao remember when House of Wax was sold on coming to watch Paris Hilton die? Good times.

I love House of Wax. But remember when it was tracking at $30M opening weekend before release, then done $12m?

Based on Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, a family-friendly movie released wide on December 16, I predict Rogue One will open to around 20M.

I find Julia Roberts to be quite annoying, constantly shoehorning herself in front of the camera with other stars to make her seem relevant still, when in reality, she really hasn't had a decent hit since PRETTY WOMAN.. Notting Hill?? Who saw this movie??? Come on, what else has she done since then besides this God awful, MOTHERS DAY which she's barely in it apparently??

Are you really ignoring the fact she won a freakin' Oscar between Notting Hill and Mother's Day? ;)

Since Pretty Woman? You really want to see what hits she's had since 1990?

Oceans Eleven $450m
Notting Hill $364m
Oceans Twelve $363m
Runaway Bride $310m
Hook $300m
My Best Friends Wedding $300m
Erin Brockovich $256m
Valentines Day $217m
Eat Pray Love $205m
The Pelican Brief $195m
Mirror Mirror $183m
Sleeping With The Enemy $175m
Stepmom $160m
The Mexican $148m
Charlottes Web $145m
Mona Lisa Smile $141m
Americas Sweethearts $138m
Conspiracy Theory $137m
Charlie Wilsons War $120m
Closer $115m

So since Pretty Woman (1990), she's had 20 films make over $100m worldwide.

And yet, even when I look at this list, most of those are pretty forgettable.. She's still annoying..

Whether you think she's annoying or the films are forgettable is irrelevant.

You've still be proven wrong.

LOL BKB will always be cluelessly BKB: "Julia Roberts has not had a decent hit since Pretty Woman"

He must have missed the decade and half in which she happened to be the # 1 female box office attraction in the US.

But carry on, child, with your cluelessness

I hope CIVIL WAR Crushes the Fuck out of this movie this weekend, leaving it in the dust..

How many hits has Chris Evans had that made their money entirely on his name, like many of Julia Roberts' 90s hits did? Zero?

Ok.

Let me guess...you hate the fact that a woman (and a lesbian to boot!!!) is directing this, right? ;)

Surprisingly decent reviews. Will probably do Monument Men numbers in the end, this will act as the adult alternative option through most of summer.

Monuments men numbers ?

They should consider themselves happy with half of MM's gross IMO.
