That.. is not gonna happen. Way too much competition for screens in the coming weeks, and The Martian has not exactly become the cultural touchpoint that Gravity was, literally everyone was talking about Gravity 2 years ago. Also, no IMAX means losing screens is easier. 

 

It will do well and have great legs, but won't come anywhere near the 5X that Gravity had.

Unfortunately it won't. It would have needed a better OW than Gravity and the 3D share is half of what Gravity had.
