There is a reason for this, other studios spend just as much as WB does on TV ads, the difference is that WB doesn't own any TV channels so all their spend is counted as is. Universal advertises heavily on NBC and related networks which doesn't cost them a dime (only opportunity costs)...

Well, the spending counts against the movie, though. In terms of the giant conglomerate, it's a wash, but not for the line items that Universal (the studio entity) looks at.

No one cares about it anymore, but I saw Shaun the Sheep over the weekend with Wrathette #2. While the theater was surprisingly full for a movie doing so badly, I have to say it was actually pretty disappointing. Technically proficient, but really slow paced and not especially engaging. Wrathette #2 admitted to being bored and for the first time in a very long time I actually checked my watch to see how long it had left. Hard to believe its the same folks who made Chicken Run.

I was in Vegas this weekend and the hotel had a movie theater. Everybody took off to see SOC at some point during our trip. I didn't go and watch it. They said it was really good. Most weren't expecting it to be as good as it was. But then these are a L.A. people with a history of the times and the music. I have a long movie list to catch up on.  I've been wrapped up in sports since my team won the championship. LOL.

Wow at SOC. Awesome number.  Universal has been winning all year.

Man from Uncle though. :(

And Good God for FF4. What a mess.  This was supposed to be their XFC. They should have just let it be.
