Jungle Cruise | July 30 2021 | Disney | Theaters and Premier Access

The Mouse seems to really like Emily.

I suspect they will have her do her kick ass women warrior routine in this one,.

Main problem they have ...particularly with Johnson starring ...is to keep it from  coming off as a "Jumanji" clone, since both are jungle adventure films.

They can make it a musical. The Unintentional Emily Blunt / Disney Collaboration Musical Trilogy, right after Returns and Woods.

John Requa and Glen Ficarra are the writers of a good film from 2015 called Focus, and they are producers of This Is Us. They also have experience in lowbrow comedic stuff like Bad Santa, Cats & Dogs, and I Love You Phillip Morris- though those were a long time ago.

What I'm saying is this: if they can take the comedy and the emotional aspects that they have experience in handling, and somehow converge the two together, they'll have something competent on their hands (and I'm saying this as an optimist).

Adding Blunt is good news. How many jungle movies will DJ do. Dwayne Jungle > Dwanta Clause

I think after this one he would be smart to step away from the genre for a while.

BTW what the hell happened to Johnson playing Doc Savage?

Still seem on is massive project list:

"In developments" status.

Shaun Black was the guy who announced the project and cast Johnson.

It's a dream project for Black;he is a huge Doc Savage fan, and has spent considerable money collecting copies of the original  Doc Savage Pulp Magazines from the 30's and 40's. (The Bantam paperbacks in the 60's were reprints of the pulp magazine originals).

A potential supernatural twist;

https://movieweb.com/jungle-cruise-movie-disney-story-character-details/

Spoiler

If this new report is true, Dwayne Johnson is playing "Frank (Francisco)," described as "a witty riverboat captain cursed with immortality," who takes Emily Blunt's character, Lily Houghton, down the river. Lily is described as a "spunky scientist in search of the Tree of Life." Her quest for this mythical tree is, "inspired in part by the death of her brother, which was caused by an infectious disease." The original Jungle Cruise attraction was a simple riverboat tour with no underlying story, so it's not too surprising that a supernatural twist was added to this movie adaptation.

I could be okay with that.
