Mockingjay Raphael
http://deadline.com/2015/08/straight-outta-compton-sinister-2-american-ultra-agent-47-box-office-opening-1201503182/ Gramercy/Focus Features’ Sinister 2, one of three R-rated wide entries this weekend, rang up $850K last night at 2,100 locations. The Blumhouse horror sequel is expected to do the best of the crop with a $17.5M-$18M opening, however, Universal’s Straight Outta Compton will continue to hold No. 1 with a second frame that’s 40%-50% less than its $60.2M opening. Last night, Compton was the top film with $4.6M, raising its first week’s cume to $84.8M. Today, the F. Gary Gray film will expand beyond the 3,000 theater threshold. Previews figures for Lionsgate’s American Ultra and 20th Century Fox’s Hitman: Agent 47 are still rolling in. ------------------------------ Gopher, on 22 Aug 2015 - 01:44 AM, said: Hitman is ahead of Sinister but both are below MI5. Ultra's below UNCLE. Too early to tell on Compton, my guess is 8-9. Edited August 23, 2015 by CJohn

Mockingjay Raphael
WIB2 had a $15m OW after $1.5m in previews, how the hell will S2 make $18m after only $850k?
kells
Updated with Ultra and Hitman numbers. Gramercy/Focus Features/Blumehouse’s Sinister 2 was the highest with $850K last night at 2,100 locations, followed by 20th Century’s Fox’s sequel Hitman: Agent 47 which seized $600K, and Lionsgate’s American Ultra which made $425K.
grim22
There is a chance no movie apart from Compton will end up with more than 10M for the weekend.
TalismanRing
There is a chance no movie apart from Compton will end up with more than 10M for the weekend. MI5 should be over $10m, might hit $11-12m

Gopher
Kinda confused as to why three movies of the same type targeting virtually the same demo all opened on the same day. I guess nobody at their respective studios cared enough?

Ezen Baklattan
It wouldn't surprise me if even Sinister 2 came under $10m for the weekend. That's less than The Gallows. Also pretty weak for American Ultra, but it's not like anyone expected Hitman to do well. Compton is getting an easy victory.

Ezen Baklattan
Yeah, it's pretty bad. On the other hand, BEST OF ENEMIES is beginning its rollout into more theaters. It's a really brilliant documentary that's also super fun to watch. Definitely see it if you get the chance.
