Gramercy/Focus Features’ Sinister 2, one of three R-rated wide entries this weekend, rang up $850K last night at 2,100 locations. The Blumhouse horror sequel is expected to do the best of the crop with a $17.5M-$18M opening, however, Universal’s Straight Outta Compton will continue to hold No. 1 with a second frame that’s 40%-50% less than its $60.2M opening. Last night, Compton was the top film with $4.6M, raising its first week’s cume to $84.8M. Today, the F. Gary Gray film will expand beyond the 3,000 theater threshold. Previews figures for Lionsgate’s American Ultra and 20th Century Fox’s Hitman: Agent 47 are still rolling in.

Hitman is ahead of Sinister but both are below MI5. Ultra's below UNCLE. Too early to tell on Compton, my guess is 8-9.

It wouldn't surprise me if even Sinister 2 came under $10m for the weekend. That's less than The Gallows.

Also pretty weak for American Ultra, but it's not like anyone expected Hitman to do well.

Compton is getting an easy victory.

Hmpf, weekend openers:

RTs

Hitman 6%

Sinister 2 7%

American Ultra 39%

She's funny that way 36%

Grandma 88%

BO.com's  w/e forecast

Straight Outta Compton     $32,500,000     $117,200,000

Sinister 2         $14,500,000     $14,500,000

MI5    $11,500,000     $157,300,000

American Ultra         $9,000,000     $9,000,000

Hitman: Agent 47     $8,000,000     $8,000,000

The Man from U.N.C.L.E.         $7,000,000     $26,200,000

The Gift (2015)         $4,000,000     $30,700,000

Vacation (2015)         $3,000,000     $52,100,000

Last week they were pretty good with UNCLE, and underestimated like all the others Straight Outta Compton, but not as much as some others

last week's forecast:

Straight Outta Compton     $55,000,000     $55,000,000

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation         $18,500,000     $140,500,000

The Man from U.N.C.L.E.         $14,000,000     $14,000,000

....

Curious to see how near they'll be this time

There is a chance no movie apart from Compton will end up with more than 10M for the weekend.

see above, MI5 at least some seem to think is a possible contender for a 5-digit too
