Oh God this draw thing again.

Bad movie, terrible reviews --> Baywatch

Great movie, good reviews ---> Jumanji

Is the Rock a draw or not...

Ignoring mother!, Passengers and Joy (also for their crazy budgets) underperformed due to mixed-negative reviews.

The Rock has had consistent box office hits for the entirety of this decade. Yes he is a draw, Baywatch being an exception doesn't change that. MJ2 failed to meet even the low end of expectations at the box office and J Law has followed that up with 4 underperformers/flops. Three of which shouldn't have been that hard of sells. At this point her draw power is absolutely in question.

The whole concept of drawing power is ridiculous. Certain popular actors/actresses will attract interest to anything they do, but if the film itself doesn’t look interesting or gets bad reviews, it’s not gonna do that well.

Joy was a movie with mixed reviews about a woman that invented an f’ing mop. The fact that it could even gross what it did shows that JLaw attracts interest.

A major “draw” like Denzel just had a few flops in The Magnificent Seven and Roman J. Israel, Esq. And The Rock with Baywatch has already been mentioned. Who else is even considered a “draw”?

Ignoring Fast & Furious:

Faster (2010): bomb

Journey 2 (2012): hit

Snitch (2013) bomb

G.I Joe (2013): based on the budget/gross this is like Passengers

Pain and Gain (2013): broke even

Hercules (2014): bomb

San Andreas (2015): hit

Central Intelligence (2016): hit

Baywatch: flop

Jumanji: hit

Yeah right. Six flops out of ten movies. Costant draw where.

I think you need to look at what you call a “bomb”. Those films didn’t gross much but they didn’t cost much (Snitch, Faster).

If those are “bombs” what would you call Valerian?

Anyway, he’s a draw in the right material, sometimes.

None of those are bombs WW actually except for Faster and I guess maybe Snitch? And if we're going to start excluding franchises, then I guess we can't use Hunger Games or X-Men to talk about J Law's draw power either. So in that case her box office hits are Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. Hercules probably would have been lucky to do half of what it did DOM w/o The Rock, marketing looked atrocious. And what about Moana? Disney literally anchored the whole first trailer around selling the movie via The Rock's name and character. They've never marketed one of their animated films around a voice actor as much as that one.

Exactly. Some actors have more of "an added value" than an actual pull. Concept has a pull (which is why brand/franchise movies such as SH genre or Star Wars make tons of money with actors who don't necessarily have any appeal outside of the brand). But with the right actor in the leading role, appealing concept can really blow up. Some actors are also just better at picking the right movies than other.

What is JLaw’s next project after RS? She needs this to be good. Passengers and mother werent exactly well received. Is the book any good?

She s unemployed for the last 6-8 months.

Nothing has been announced yet, only projects that could happen in a kinda distant future.

The Million dollar question now is if QT, one of her most vocal fan in Hollywod, has cast her in his next film.

From what I understand, both could be in the film.

Jlaw & QT met in LA in 2017.

Even tho Leo is in the new QT movie and he already worked with Margot, he even cast her for The Wolf of Wall Street with Scorcese.

She dared to slap Leo very hard during the audition and they both loved it.
