GODZILLA vs. KONG | March 31 2021 | Adam Wingard to direct

Recommended Posts

It s really not that hard, monsters movies were never that big in general.

The only monsters GA care about are the ones that are from earth biology :

sharks (Jaws, Statham)

dinos (Jurassic Park, World)

monkeys (Kong)

Maybe (could explain the Thing flopping), but

Xenomorph (Alien, Aliens, etc...)

Predator

And Godzilla is from earth biology from what I understand, a bit like Pacific Rim pre-historic dinosaur type sea monster than nuclear explosion waked up, and not from outer space.

Godzilla had a 93m OW just 5 year's ago, 50% bigger than Kong Skull Island, 100% bigger than the Meg.

Well Alien is completely rooted in earth biology (especially sex organs), it s even the reason it became so iconic & memorable.

Giger's easthetic was called bio-mechanic.

Same for Predator , he looks like a batracian with dreads.

Xenomorph and predator movies have also not hit big time. Drinking returns for both franchises.

Well same for everything, Godzilla look like a giant lizard arguably more directly than Alien look like an earth thing. I am not sure how much Kong is more a big monkey than Godzilla a big lizard exactly ?

Alien was the 6th biggest movie of it's year's, Aliens number 7.

This should go straight to HBO Max tbh

Despite the KOTM box office performance, that is in no way a wise decision. It’s Godzilla and King Kong together in a film, that alone should require a theatrical release.

If there’s any film or property that should go straight to HBO Max, it’s Dune. It could properly serve as Game of Thrones-like show with 10 episodes per season and cover the books pretty well.
