Since Everest loses all IMAX screens in 2 days, I think a finish around 50M looks likely.

What a shame. Minus the overcrowding and underdevelopment of some characters, it wasn't a bad movie. Surprised not as many people are going to see it.

The IMAX platform release didn't work well for it as the word of mouth wasn't strong in the "You have to see this in IMAX 3D" sense. Ghost Protocol and Interstellar which both platformed in IMAX had that going for them with the Burj Khalifa scene and the full IMAX scenes in IS. The depressing ending also didn't help. The Walk, at the very least, looks like it will have that with the WTC walk scene which can potentially lead to a better run in IMAX alone.

The platform release also meant that it felt like Everest had been out for quite a while when the wide release finally came. The large number of movies targeting the same audience releasing in the next 4 weeks also means legs will be at a premium for all of the movies.

The Walk will be out for 1 week and a half by the time the wide release happens. Crimson Peak getting IMAX fucked Universal itself and now is set and ready to fuck Sony as well.

With The Walk, I can see the word of mouth being much more kind thanks to what (by all accounts) seems to be a dynamite 3rd act setpiece and a pretty uplifting ending.

Yes, but IMAX will be gone. They must hope the WOM that spreads says it is a must see in 3D and not a must see in IMAX 3D.
