No IMAX plus half of Gravity's enormous 3D share... The Martian wins as far as attendance goes.

Not to undermine Gravity's fantastic opening, though. The fall sci-fi trifecta these last few years each had excellent openings.

Darn, well, Gravity did have a great opening (and run in general). Now we get to wait until another big October movie comes along.

It's not the new record but on the bright side this is quite a solid opening for October, and good for Ridley Scott/Matt Damon who both haven't had big debuts since Prometheus and The Bourne Ultimatum

Thanks. Though it looks like 42% was the Real3D share, 45% total for 3D. But yes, way off from Gravity's 80% share.

Not bad 3D share for Martian. Nothing compared to Gravity though.
