QoS is a better movie, no doubt. Not by much but still... QoS 6/10, Spectre 4/10.

I think qos is wretched in a different way. Qos is shot and edited in such a way that much of it - especially- the action scenes is unfathomable. Sphincter is shot in such a way that it looks pretty but is uninvolving and dull- especially the car chase and most of the action.

Sphincter and qos both have terrible scripts, but sphincter has the stupidest plot twist/character reveal of all time. And wastes Bellucci and Waltz, but uses Andrew Scott.

Choosing between qos and spectre is like choosing between fred and rose west, but even if spectre is better " slightly less crap than quantum of sorearse" is hardly praise.

My main problem is that twist from Austin Powers. It's just so unreal, so unbelievable... that all four Craig movies were built around something so stupid and ridiculous.

When Russell T Davies was  bringing thr master back into Dr Who, there was speculation that the dr and the msster would have a similar reference to Bond and Blofeld in sphincter. RTD- a man not known for his restraint- stated that the idea was " beneath soap opera cliche". One can only wish that the makers of this film had listened to him.

Is it a great film....no. However, I still really enjoyed it. Had a fun time watching it. I got what I wanted out of a Bond film. The acting was good and I enjoyed the action. Cinematography wasn't as good as Skyfall, but it still looked really good. Batista only said one word, but I thought he did good as the henchman muscle. He seemed like he was having a tom of fun playing the character. The thing lacking was the story. It was alright, but could have been better. Oh, and Waltz was kind of underused.

As far as Craig Bond films go, I would rank it 3rd behind Skyfall & Casino Royale. It is way better then Quantum of Solace.

I give it a.......

It's clear that in the time in between Skyfall and Spectre, Mendes studied action filmmaking. The action in this is way better than Skyfall's, since Skyfall depends on cinematography more than actual choreography and a pulse. Craig is good as always, and Dave Batista is astounding in a small part. If he had been the main villain, this would've been up there with Craig's best. As it is, it makes a fatal mistake to add a ridiculous overcontinuity to the Craig Bond films in a way that significantly worsens itself while making me realize how good Skyfall and Casino Royale are. Pro-tip: When building up a villain to be better than Javier Bardem and Mads Mikkelsen, ACTUALLY MAKE HIM BETTER. Every fucking time they mentioned Silva, I was like "damn, Skyfall was a lot more interesting than this" and I'm not even a big fan of Skyfall. The beginning is slow and dull, full of the worst Nolan-position since The Dark Knight Rises. The ending is disappointing, becoming a confusing mishmash character motivations. Only the middle, when Dave Batista is the main bad guy is entertaining, with creative action scenes and fun but not overly witty one-liners. Unfortunately that does not save this horribly misguided Bond film. C

I guess it was .. mildly enjoyable. but yeah my opinion is pretty much variations of what others had said. I think the best part may have been the opening take that is a single moving take that least several minutes it was a very beautiful shot. I absolutely love Léa Seydoux, and while at first her character has some potential to break the bond girl meld. she ultimately succumbs to its hold, and becomes yet another damsel in distress with the hots for bond, in one of the most forced romances to date. I didn't feel a sense of danger or suspense much of anywhere, and aside from the train fight scene, the action sequences were pretty meh.. I did really like Q Ben Warshaw was awesome, as was Ralph Fiennes.  Christoph Waltz had absolutely nothing to work with and his character felt like a rip-off of Hans Landa from Inglourious Basterds. also Daniel Craig's age is showing, as is his obvious boredom with the role. but as a turn your brain off action popcorn movie it was serviceable. major step down from Skyfall though B-

Just came back from the movie and honestly am pretty disappointed with the script. The way it was shot was great, but substance? They dropped that on one of the many scrip rewrites apparently, where they also left the consistency of some of the characters, especially the main female one. Acting was good from almost everybody, but what they were given to work with, not so much. And the villains were majorly disappointing. C+ from me.

Fuck this movie for not having the balls to actually have Bond kill Franz Khan Blofeld. It could have tied in nicely with the alcoholism 'theme'.

Yeah, I know that shit ain't never happening...

Also, fuck this movie for having the same old tired theme of man vs. data 'have you ever had to pull the trigger?' bullshit. Stop stealing already sub-par Jack Bauer shtick!

Don't wanna go into the plot/characters, I feel like I'm already tired of that just by reading these two pages but I got to say the direction and the cinematography were great (All Hail Hoyte), and the opening sequence and the train fight were top notch. Plus, I really like Craig's screen presence and because of that I didn't dislike the film, I was just disappointed by some of the decisions they made.

Oh yeah, Waltz was terrible, haven't seen anyone mention that. Though that may have been down to the writing.

Obviously, not as good as Skyfall or Casino, but I enjoyed it more than Quantum.

And I didn't find the reveal to be *that* lame. In terms of name reveals later in the movie, having Franz kill his name and assume the name of Blofeld feels less lame than Khan always being Khan but taking up a smokescreen name that serves no real function to the plot, only a function for marketing purposes.

So it was passable for me.

But they wasted Bautista. And Bellucci. And Waltz.

A solid Bond film. Great action scenes, solid structure, and while a bit predictable it's a decent story. The direction here is very good. Does have some pacing issues and there are moments where it lags but I think this is a solid entry in the franchise.

B- I guess. Not bad, but somewhat disappointing after Skyfall.

Miles better than QoS. It's a competent movie, with awesome action, great dialogue (for the most part) an interesting plot, and nice conclusion. There were some inconsistencies in the pacing I thought, and some scenes were too "cliche" for me (but then again, what am I supposed to expect in a Bond film?)

The worst Craig Bond film. Do the Craig Bonds alternate between Great and Average?  CR, QoS, Skyfall, Spectre

Boring. Tedious. Dull. About 30min too long. Craig seemed tired. His delivery was hard to hear at times. This was the kind of Bond I expected from Mendes in terms of tone.  Skyfall was a pleasant surprise.

Blofeld was absolutely wasted.  The self-referential nod to the cat. Yea I got it. He's not going to pet the cat because you are trying to be different.  What was the point of the torture scene??

It is a derivative, soulless mess. It begins well enough, but the bizarre title sequence (hentai?) and the utterly wretched theme song mark the beginning of one of the worst Bonds ever.

Craig looks like methuselah and (perhaps because of age) the physical commitment he made in his first film is gone.

Seydoux is bland and mainly a damsel in distress. She has no chemistry with Craig, which makes the ending of the film even more ridiculous.

Waltz is wasted as Blofeld and the whole foster brother thing is even stupider than it was in the Austin Powers movie they stole it from. The idea that he is behind all of the events in Craig's bond films is moronic.

Bellucci is wasted and her seduction scene is soporific

apart from the helicopter scene, the only setpiece worth a damn is the train fight. The car chase idsbeautifully photographed but dull. there is no sense of danger. Bond even makes a phone call during it.

Andrew Scott is miscast as an ineffectual pantomime villain in Sherlock, and he is no better here.

Whishaw is good, Fiennes shines. he gets one of tne few funny lines in the film, but why does he gurn so much? he looks like Rigsby in Rising Damp.

the action climax is a direct steal from an episode of Dempsey and Makepiece.

the torture scene seems pointless.

the film has bigger plotholes than Skyfall

Agree with almost all of this except I absolutely loved Seydoux.  I thought she oozed sex appeal.  But everything else you said here is pretty accurate imo.  The big problem with the film is that there is no sense of fear from the villain.  The character Waltz plays could have been so much more.  They set him up to be some uber New World Order kind of guy and then basically he just turns into a normal boring generic villain.  I really didn't feel a sense of shock when it was revealed that Bond and him were raised by the same man, it was meant to be some kind of earth shattering revelation but it just came so out of left field that it was just a ho hum plot piece.

Dave Buatista was pretty good but he could of been so much more as well.

The frustrating thing about this Bond film is that there seems like there is a whole other movie out there somewhere but for some reason it got lost in the editing room.  I thought Skyfall was decent but disappointing, this is just downright disappointing.
