So the Ringer came up with a list of the 50 best superhero films.  They have a specific formula so some films are going to be higher or lower than they should be.

But remember guys it's just a list.  It doesn't affect your personal lists in any way

SS above BvS. TIH above Lee's Hulk. TASM above Thor. Iron Man 2 above Batman Returns. Ultron above X2 and DOFP. Deadpool number 13 above tons of good movies.

That's all you need to know about this list.

This is way off topic, and I don't want people to get all up in a fuss...

But I am curious as to why a lot of people outright hate Zack Snyder? Yet most, all?, of the people that work with him/for him seem to love the guy. It's quite strange.

That sounds like a casual-ass list :gold:

I’m actually curious as well. Has most of the hate come after his takes on Superman and Batman? Is maybe that why? The characters are so iconic, maybe people just don’t like his take?

I have nothing against Snyder as a person, he might be the nicest guy alive.

But I do have major issues with a lot of his films.

I think attacking his movies is 100% legitimate, but attacking his as a person is going too far.

His movies are cynical and don't have an exactly favorable view of society, which seems to be a hard no for comic book movies. He also can't pull off what is trying to say with his movies and seems more concerned with punching.

I think that sums up why people dislike him as a director.

I overall liked his take on Batman, but thought that Snyder totally  misread Superman, particularly in BvS. And don't get me started on his Luthor.

I would say his misreading of charecters is also a major problem with Snyder.

Only 2 of these opinions are right.

The inability of the DCEU to not be able to make their superheroes somehow work in present day is truly weird.

Man Of Steel (a movie that I adore despite what I am saying here), BvS, SS and now it seems JL.

It s like there s a disconnect here and the DC creative team hasn''t found a solution to this issue.

That s why I think why these movies are so divisive.

I mean, look at Wonder Woman, there s no way her story arc would have worked as well as it did in present day.

I works because  it is set in WWI.

And Patty Jenkins is still afraid to confront the issue since it seems Wondy 2 will again happen in the past.

Wonder what will be the movie that finally cracks the code.

Aquabro I am not sure tbh.

We joke about Disney paying off critics.

WB literally buys a huge share of RT and withholds their reviews till OD for one of their biggest, recent films.

And for whatever reason we're not allowed to discuss it in other threads.

People are pissed at Disney when they should be worried about Fandango and WB controlling who hears the voice of critics.

Who cares about this petty Marvel vs. DC stuff.   Muh capes and sky beams are better than yooooors

The Silmarillion was basically green-lit by Amazon/The Tolkien Estate.  Middle Earth has the trilogy to rule them all and will soon have the TV series to rule them all.
