The Arrowverse is almost the only example of real success for the superhero genre on TV in the last 10 years. That is because almost all other series have been failures (whether it was on network or cable), but it is still an achievement to create a mini-empire with a niche TV genre.

The Arrowverse is solid relative to the channel it airs on, but tying their high budget streaming war fare to it would have been a disaster.

They should scrap that Green Lantern show either way, we already have too many superhero shows on the air.

Sure.

There's a good chance it gets Globes nominations tomorrow too.

#Watchmen is averaging 7.1M viewers per episode, making it HBO's most-watched new series since 'Big Little Lies'

Well the problem is that BLL had a lot more viewers (1.5M+ Live vs 700k for Watchmen), and same goes for Westworld. All these TV shows are expensive by the way, in the same range as Game of Thrones (GoT ended with 15x times more viewers but of course this is an unfair comparison).

BLL also grew in its second season, and Watchmen definitely needs to perform better - outside the Twitterverse.

Its just going to mean that less people are going to notice that the WW1984 trailer released. But it seems like this "event" was a flop either way so it doesn't matter.

I don't think they expected to repeat the numbers of November 17, it's just to keep the flame alive.

But they should have planned something better on the ground @ brazilian comic con.

For a show that essentially requires you to have read the comic to understand anything about the plot the Watchmen show sure does fundamentally misunderstand a lot of the themes of the original comic. Particularly Veidt.

Tbh it’s kinda true, until we see Fantastic Four, X-Men, Spider-Man vs. the Sinister Six or something

Oh and AVENGERS 5

The entire premise of the article is that DC is releasing movies of more established/popular characters whereas Marvel is going with more obscure or B/C list characters like Eternals/Shang Chi//etc hence the slate being more exciting.

We have seen from past movies that popularity does not necessarily convert into higher grosses. Strange, Gotg, SS did more than Justice League and Superman. Aquaman did more than Wonder Woman despite WW being more popular.

Black Panther is the highest grossing solo movie despite being B/C lister compared to some of these superheroes.

It’s more to do with quality and with what connects with audiences.

I personally can't wait for Batman, Aquaman 2 and Wonderwoman. Other DC films look mediocre. Still pissed they ruined Man of Steel sequel and no team films will be happening

If we are talking about only 2020 and 2021 sure I agree otherwise not so much. I'd rather see both do awesome.
