"THe Joker" is nowhere the masterpiece of originality some people think it is...it's not doing anything that Scorsese was not doing nearly 50 years ago with "Taxi Driver"and "King of Comedy"  but it's generally well done, if not really original, and Phoenix is incredible as the Joker.

This is called a balanced view, as opposed to the "It's Great" or "It Sucks" opinions that seem to predominate here.

3D is so damn awful and cheesy nowadays. Even IMAX 3d is hideous.

Only 3d without glasses would have worked and the technology isnt there.

That's the history of 3D ever since "Bwana Devil" in 1953,a couple 3d Films come out, are huge hits, but audiences soon get tired of the gimmick, and it soon pretty much dies out. Happened time and time again.

And the clumsy glasses are a main reason. If you wear glasses, it's even clumsier to wear an additional pair. 3D will not become standard until they find a way to do it without the glasses, and, despite a lot of claims ot the contrary, the technology for that seems a long way off.

Ain't no one else here...….

That is a truly iconic scene.

BTW it is no concidence that Rosharch's rants in Alan Moore's "Watchmen" so closely resemble Travis Bickle's rants in "Taxi Driver".

I would sell it: Jared Leto as a vampire. His fans would eat that up.

Jared Leto, though he is generally a good actor and has some name recognition, is not a major box office draw. Certainly not big enough to sell a film on.

I can’t really picture the Morbius movie doing particularly well. Maybe if it came out back when Twilight was still a thing, then it could’ve done well with those kinds of viewers, but as it stands, it just doesn’t seem like it will have anything going for it. I mean, are vampires even popular in China?

Does the Chinese Government even allow movies about vampires in?

Given that ghosts are a big no no to them, I can't see them being friendly toward vamps.

But I agree, I  can't see the point of making a movie with a B list at best Spidey Villian who happens to be a vampire as the main character.

And even Marvel sort of pushed Morbius into the background when it decided to do a straight out Vampire comic and went with the original;Count Dracula, with great success .Blade, btw, was introduced in the Dracula comics.

Morbius isn't drawing anymore. Its better to sell it as a Jared Leto vampire MCU movie.

I think it's a really hard  sell in either case. Vamps seem to be passe, Leto is no draw, and the MCU connection is  pretty vague.

And SONY seems to want to keep it Spidey spinoff films separate from the MCU,or at least minimize the point.

Pretty clear, anyway, that Marvel Studios sort of told Sony "Your are on your own" for this one and minimized their involvement.

Feige seems to have a interest in the actual Spidey movies, but seems to have little interest in the spin off films.

An action vampire movie can do fine, that is the Underworld formula. But it was at a lower level of budget than Morbius (probably, if it is close to Venom). The potential for a superhero movie is just way higher at the box office currently. My guess is that Sony will try to sell it as one, where the superhero just happens to have vampire powers.

Anyway, it is a bit pointless to speculate about their marketing strategy since I don't know much at all about Morbius, let's wait for the trailer.

You need to see more 3D films. There is loads of good 3D around.

Mobius as a Hero???

But he is a villain, and not a very sumpathtic one at that, and turning him into "Angel" from the BUffyverse is a bad idea.

3d sucks for everything including Avatar and End Game. The stupid glasses suck, the effects suck, it's a rip-off and IMAX 2D crushes it. It's a sad gimmick

I'm generally meh about 3D but I don't agree with saying Avatar 3D sucked. Seeing it in theaters 3D is something I won't forget, it was super immersive.

I guess but for me I just loved the film. The effects meant little to me. To me 3D is always worse for every single film. Get rid of the glasses, headaches and image quality issues and I might feel differently

Starting to think people like Todd Phillips deserve the french revolution treatment, which is basically the Mother of all socialists revolutions and dictatorhips they seem to be so in looove with.

Note to Todd Phillips

careful for what you wish for Todd.

There was nothing glamourous about the french revolution,Todd, the deplorables of 1789 literally tore people like you apart, throw your guts to dogs and put your heads on sticks.

These Patronizing  Hollywood leftists seem to be so enamored with their subttle politics they would miss something if they didn't get a taste of their poison/medicine in their lifetimes.

Rian Johnson, you re next.
