I wish I could get into One Piece, but that artstyle is so fucking bad though

It’s an acquired taste like a fine wine and gets better as it ages, it’s not “bad” where the artist just lacks drawing skill (like AoT manga) or gets lazy (like Bleach). The art also has some of the best facial expressions of any comic, ever, and the panels are creative and just get better over time. The anime has some weak outsourced art but not the Manga. I’d power through it, by the Alabaster Kingdom arc I’d grown to love the art, there’s nothing quite like it and you’re rewarded because the art just gets better and better (Oda has spent the majority of his career on OP).

You should watch One Punch Man season 1 or even read Manga by Yusuke Murata. That guy is just spectacular at drawing characters facial expressions and whatnot. It's beautiful

What the..? What's this peaceful discussion about anime and manga in the Fandom Wars thread?

Does this confirm anime and manga are the salve that cures all that is wrong in the world? I think so.

Go read some Berserk or Vinland Saga for some dark ages goodness.

Despite my best efforts, I never could really get into anime or manga.  I barely know what half of the last two pages are talking about, yet I've loved these last two pages.  This has been pleasant!

@WhiteWings: I thought the Berserk anime was pretty fun... until about 2/3 of the way through part 3... not what I signed up for man.

The Berserk anime must not be spoken of. The scars still run deep. :whosad:

Berserk manga is great but its anime except season 1 all other seasons are garbage. Vinland Saga has gorgeous animation and I'm starting to like it...

Or don't unless you want to join us all in the torture. The only two manga I have read with great interest, Blame! and Berserk, I wish Miura would get a team or something to help him push it over the line.

I'm open to other Manga suggestions, although I prefer ones I can read that have endings and aren't Scooby Doo-esque.

If you're into comics though, I always highly suggest Alan Moore, and I know @LaughingEvans has some good taste in that area.

Which genre do you like? Try Tokyo Ghoul for horror, Food Wars for food porn is nice but it had a shit ending.

I'm open to anything honestly, just a good story, I get bored of anything that is dragged on though - although I have stuck with Berserk against my own best intuitions. I'll check out Tokyo Ghoul though, thanks!

Check out Ouroborous. It's thriller manga. It's good . If you like Killing Survival game manga check out Darwin's game, Battle royale.

Good discussion here.

For anime, I've not dived in too deep, but I'm a big fan of Stein's Gate, and my guilty pleasure is Girls und Panzer.

For manga, I'm new to this as well, one of my favs is the original Devilman, though I admit it packs some really hard hits towards the end.

For comics, it's another discussion. I prefer to follow writers, and some characters. Too many underrated gems in the genre.

One Punch Man is the only anime I've really watched in the past 5 years. That and some of the new DragonBall movies.

If I had to choose all time fav it would be Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. Just has a bit of everything without needless filler. Still need to watch the first anime run though.

Other favs from back in the day ..... DragonBall Z, Mobile Suit: Gundam Wing, Yu Yu Hakusho and Kenshin.

Steins Gate season 1 is great and it should have ended there IMO. It even had perfect ending but they pretty much fucked 2nd season. There are some good webtoons if you like that kind of stuff. Korean webtoons are getting good too.

Also talking about beautiful animation and greta story I think Violet Evergarden is great. You all should watch Fate series. Except Fate Stay Night all other seasons including Fate Zero , Fate Unlimited Blade Works and Fate Heavens Feel have gorgeous animation as well as pretty good fight scenes. You will definitely like it

Try Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood or Steins;gate. Clean, tight stories that don't drag and have satisfying endings.

If you only have time for one, go with Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, it's my overall go-to recommendation.

The Fate series is great, but probably a step down from the best mangas/animes. They also lean a bit heavier on anime/manga conventions and aren't as good for people who are more casual fans or non-fans. I'm saying this because some time ago someone tried recommending me Fate and it was a complete dud at getting me (back) into anime. FMA:B is the show that finally pulled me into modern anime and made me want more.

EDIT: PS @Nero you should check out Puella Magi Madoka Magica
