Even movies you dislike you can learn something from, once you start asking yourself what exactly didn't work for you and why.

Exactly, I've never not finished a movie. Even if there is one interesting shot that make you go hey! it was worth it. Also all my film school friends are stupider than me always ask for my opinion on shit because they don't watch movies. They watch like 3/4  week maybe and they are usually 3 really really good movies every week. Most my friends won't watch a movie its not supposed to be good or turn them off to not waste their time. Little do they know they aren't developing. All movies are the same, breakdown for me why thats a movie is bad, explain solutions. What made it worse than blank and so on. You gotta watch all genres, good or bad, it really helps you understand proper tone.

6-7/10

I find it tough not to like an animation. I like very few live action comedies and fewer action movies.

So have become selective of genres over time. If wom is great will watch movies from genres I don't like.

This year I have watched Jurassic World (loved), Furious 7(did not like), Spy(did not like) and Paddington(loved)

So that's 50%. But I am also gonna watch Inside Out, The Martian, Peanuts, The Good Dino and The Revenant.

That 50% figure should get better as 3 of those 5 movies are animations and am confident about Martian and Revenant.

I generally tend to find more movies underrated than overrated. Out of the 18 movies that I've seen this year, I wholeheartedly enjoyed 11 of them, found 3 of them to be mediocre, and the other 4 were either bad or atrocious. I am a fairly lenient person when it comes to movies as I know that they are incredibly hard to make and a bad movie usually has just as much work and effort as a great movie. That said, I don't care about being harsh if I really have to towards a very shitty movie.
