Andreas
Romania box office update (February 10th): "Drunk Parents" opens at no.2, grossing $121K / 508K RON on OW. The opening haul is OK. "The Prodigy" and "Mia and the White Lion" fail to impress the audience, the movies having grossed $44K / 185K RON and $31K / 131K RON, respectively, on their opening weekends in Romania. "How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World" maintains the first spot in the top 10. The animated movie has now grossed $453K in Romania, after two weekends in theaters. "Escape Room" sits comfortably at number 3. The movie will soon pass the $300K-mark ($298K to date). "Aquaman" still doesn't want to leave the top 10. The movie has currently grossed $3.81M. Other holdovers: Glass $607K, A Dog's Way Home $341K, Instant Family $440K, Bumblebee $933K. Next weekend sees the release date of "Alita: Battle Angel", "Happy Death Day 2U", "The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part" and the Romanian book-inspired movie "Oh, Ramona!". 5
Andreas
Romania box office update (February 17th): Unsurprisingly, Romanian comedy "Oh, Ramona!" outperforms any other movie and scores a huge $525K / 2.2M RON on its first weekend in Romanian theaters. "Alita: Battle Angel" opens at number 2, exceeding expectations, grossing $369K / 1.55M RON on OW, even with huge competition. "The Lego Movie 2" gets the third spot in the top 10. The movie made an OK $111K / 466K RON on OW, very similar to its predecessor. "Happy Death Day 2U" slightly disappoints, as the movie only got to $54K / 228K RON after three days in theaters. "How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World" stays strong, now sitting at $574K. Other holdovers: Drunk Parents $209K, Escape Room $359K, Glass $640K, Aquaman $3.837M. Next weekend sees the release date of "Cold Pursuit", "Vice" and "The Favourite". 4
Andreas
Romania box office update (March 10th): "Captain Marvel" outperforms expectations on OW. The movie made $567K / 2.39M RON on its first weekend in theaters, thus just barely outopening "Black Panther" (the movie opened to $565K one year ago). "What Men Want" sits at no. 2. The movie has made $335K. Very solid haul for this kind of film. Romanian comedy "Oh, Ramona!" has passed the $1M-mark. The movie now sits at $1.1M. "Alita: Battle Angel" has great legs, the movie grossed $856K to date and has a good chance at passing $1M. Other holdovers: HTTYD3 $772K, Green Book $110K, The Lego Movie 2 $277K, Vice $92K, The Favourite $103K. Next weekend sees the release date of "Touch me not" and "The Queen's Corgi". Andreas
Romania box office update (March 17th): "Captain Marvel" has already passed the $1M-mark. The movie shows great legs, as the movie currently sits at $1.068M. The run resembles "Black Panther"s run. ( $565K / $567K on OW and $1.07M / $1.16M after second weekend, respectively). "Black Panther" grossed $2M in Romania, I'm really curious to see if "Captain Marvel" can replicate this achievement. The Romanian movie "Faci sau Taci" (Translated into "Do it or shut up") has opened to $144K / 605K RON. "The Queen's Corgi" has opened at no.3, grossing $114K / 481K RON on its first weekend in theaters. "Touch me not" bombs, grossing a mere $18K / 79K RON on OW. "Alita:Battle Angel" is still in the top 10, now at $900K. Other holdovers: Green Book $143K, Oh, Ramona! $1.16M, What Men Want $447K, Cold Pursuit $455K, HTTYD3 $807K. Next weekend sees the release date of "Us". "Us" could have a very impressive opening weekend in Romania, many people are looking forward to seeing it. 5
Andreas
LATE Romania box office update (march 24th): "Captain Marvel" stays on top. The movie has grossed $1.31M to date and should cross the $1.5M-mark by this weekend. "Us" opens much lower than anticipated. The movie opened at number 4 and grossed $65K / 273K RON on OW. A pretty mediocre opening weekend for a horror movie in Romania. "The Queen's Corgi" shows great legs. The movie has made it to $213K to date. "What Men Want" has made it past $500K. The movie sits at $523K. Other holdovers: Cold Pursuit $487K, HTTYD3 $833K, Alita: Battle Angel $930K. "The Beach Bum" and "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote" bomb, grossing a mere $35K / 150K RON, and $9K / 38K RON on OW, respectively. Other holdovers: The Queen's Corgi $270K, What Men Want $570K, HTTYD3 $849K, Alita: Battle Angel $948K. Next weekend sees the release date of "Pet Sematary" and "Shazam!". Andreas
Romania box office update (April 21th): "After" has a solid opening, scoring a hefty $215K / 914K RON on its first weekend in Romanian theaters. The movie made just $87K / 370K RON in three days. "Shazam" opened three weeks ago, on the 05.04.2019, and grossed $232K on its OW (just $2k shy of AMATW's OW back in 2019). Up until now, the DC movie has accumulated a nice haul of $648K. "Hellboy" opened last week to just $107K and has only made $180K to date. Other holdovers: Little $195K, Dumbo $600K, Captain Marvel $1.646M, Pet Sematary $188K. Next weekend sees the release date of "Avengers: Endgame" and "Under the Silver Lake". "Avengers: Infinity War" made $822K on its OW. EG should easily surpass IWs final haul of $2.55M because of good WOM. "After" gets the second spot in the top 10, having scored $336K to date. "The Curse of La Llorona" sits at no. 3 with a cume of $150K to date. Other holdovers: Wonder Park $147K, Shazam! $694K, Dumbo $629K, Captain Marvel $1.668M. Imo, EG could've taken the second spot if it didn't open on Orthodox Easter Sunday (but legs will be great). SW9 will probably fall a bit short, because TLJ wasn't very liked in Romania

pepsa
30 minutes ago, Andreas said: Also well-liked franchises, but not quite as big as FF and SW Well I don't really agree with this. An unexpected journey was nr 2 movie of all time (in 2012) behind only avatar. Hobbit 2 as nr 3 behind Hobbit1 and Avatar, hold most of it's admisson, didn't fall hard like TLJ. Also it's was nr 1 for 2013. Then in 2014 Hobbit 3 breaks the OW record, and because the second biggest movie off alltime with 525k admission. I mean at that point in time it was the biggest franchise in Romania so saying it's not on the same lv is a bit strange because we didn't get anymore recent movies. I do agree that FF is bigger because FF7 wasn't released to long after Thehobbit 3 and got over 660k admission becomeing the new nr2 destroying OW record. Then Starwars 7 came along did the same but it didn't pass FF7 it got 600k admission. RO didn't come close to the Hobbit, not even the worste of the hobbit. Then you have TLJ doing 390k thats less then the first hobbit movie in 2012 and only slightly over Hobbit 2 with 388k. And I won't use solo because it has nothing to do with the main story line and woudn't help SW case. So I think you can atlest put The hobbit at the level of SW, it has been number 2 of all time 2 times, It got the OW record once. SW also got the OW record only once, 1 movie bigger than hobbit 1/3 all others lower. This even with market growth in admission. End Thehobbit ended with a high note in Admission so it's not like it was on the decline. Also SW only ever got the nr 3 possition. FF is bigger, 2 times OW record + 2 times nr 2 of all time. I don't think there is any disputing this. I would rank it this way: FF H SW
