Well, looks like the biopic element and the awards bait feel is gonna trump all the IMAX/experience/action stuff. Could have been this year's Dunkirk. Not even talking about Venom but, Gaga aside, how is ASIB gonna do better than this?

Universal is probably  hoping for another Apollo 13 with this.

Just saw that Ciaran Hands plays Gene Kranz..the NASA Flight Director...who was played by Ed Harris in Apollo 13.

mid 20s opening seems pretty decent to me. i never bought into the over apollo 13 and even over 200 talk some of you guys were going with.

A Star is Born is definitely shaping up to be an event. I've been predicting a Gone Girl type of run since the reviews at Venice came out.

 

An opening between $25-30M would be pretty good for this all things considered. It's likely gonna skew older for the most part, won't be surprised if the audience is something like 90% over 30.

Apollo 13 only opened to 25m so maybe it can catch some of those magical 90's legs and my club can be successful.

That's some odd news from IMDb as he's not playing Kranz but Bob Gilruth. Don't think Kranz is a character in this, oddly enough, although I believe we get Chuck Yaeger briefly in the opening
