Due to the big succes in the UK on August 29th, T2 will be playing another week in british cinemas (1st-7th September).

They also should add some theaters in the U.S. this weekend.

I imagine the idea was to do it was almost exclusively for the China market (where 3D is relevant) ? Titanic 3D made 145m there in 2012.....

I think we need to wait for this to open in China market (in 2018 ?) to really judge it.

I dont think T2 3D will do much in China. 3D was relevant in 2012. Now, not any more, not even in China. Titanic had been the highest grossing film in China for years, T2 has never been released. Audience in China ate nostalgia like crazy back in 2012. In 2012-2015 there were films made entirely aiming at selling nostalgia. And because of that, now this nostalgia thing is a lot less effective.

I dont see any positive factor.

It doesn't seem to be a very wide release though, it's not showing in any of my nearest cinemas whereas on August 29th all of them had one sold-out showing.

2nd weekend: $166,688 (-69.8%) << the worst drop this weekend, only one documentary film had worse.

Domestic Total as of Sep. 3, 2017: $920,500 (terrible!!)

Number of theaters went down to 288!

Two words for DistribFilm. Fu*# You!

screenshot comparisons between old and new transfers

the new version looks way crisper, though the color timing is different than the old one. Wonder if that is how it looked originally and wasn't captured by previous home video releases or it is some kind of revisionism

Cameron fucked it up. Lousy DNR and coler grading. That's one of the worst 4K remastered blu-rays out there. It's been slammed for months on bluray.com forum.

Meh, a bunch of whiny nitpickers. I have watched the 4k remaster and it looks great. No comparison to that old blurry version...

Those were very legit complaint. It looked super better than any old T2 bluray (which is not quite an achivement because old T2 blurays are pure dogshit) but comparing to other realy 4K remastered blurays out there, it's really lousy.

T1's 4K remaster from a couple of years ago was miles better.

It really shocked me because Titanic's remaster was incredible with details, color grading and everything, and it was meant for 3D as well, so I really dont understand what happned during T2 remaster. Both were supervised by Cameron himself, but the results looked like they were done by two different people with complete different understanding of image quality.

What a shame that we waited years, just for this.

Nah, it's just some of them getting very upset about removal of their beloved film grain or colors looking a little different than before. Digital noise reduction has not been overdone as far as i can see, the picture still shows great plasticity and detail, especialy close ups look amazing.
