Wouldn't it be easier to increase the predictions by $100,000 rather than $500,000, since the predictions are to 1 decimal place? This would reduce the number of situations where you have to increase a prediction multiple times, as explained at the end of your quoted paragraph.

 

Also, can you explain this - it doesn't quite make sense to me:
