terrestrial
'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Claims More Records with $38.1 Million on WednesdayDecember 24, 2015 03:20 AM by Shawn Robbins Please note that some studios are closed for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Grosses for Wednesday, Dec. 23 are a mix of estimates and actuals. Disney reports this morning that Star Wars: The Force Awakens added another $38.1 million to its domestic haul on Wednesday, giving the film a staggering six-day gross of $363.5 million -- besting Jurassic World's previous record take of $278.4 million in the same time frame by 30.6 percent. The Force Awakens also broke yet another record yesterday as the best Wednesday gross in history for a non-opening day. The previous record belonged to 2007's original Transformers, which earned $29.1 million in its second day of release. Yesterday marked a 2 percent increase from Tuesday's record gross as the film continues to closely follow the daily hold pattern of current all-time box office champ Avatar. Needless to say, Star Wars' performance thus far is beyond remarkable as it will easily become the fastest film to reach $400 million domestically early in its eighth day of release on Friday -- more than two days quicker than Jurassic World. With looks to be a record-breaking second weekend around $160-170 million, The Force Awakens will already have topped $500 million before the end of a busy Christmas weekend (at 17 days, it took Jurassic World more than twice as long to accomplish that feat). With many studios closed for the holidays, estimates will continue to be the general extent of reporting over the next few days. Follow BoxOffice for continued updates on Star Wars' unprecedented run.
Daxtreme
So the international drop between Tuesday and Wednesday was -7.55% (41.3M / 38.4M) source: https://twitter.com/giteshpandya From Monday to Tuesday it was -1%. Still, pretty good holds, but I don't think these are Avatar-level holds for the Foreign box office! Really hard to compare though, we don't have such numbers available for Avatar. edit: It's opening in Greece today (Dec 24), so expect a softer drop. Cyprus, India and Pakistan open on December 25 Edited December 24, 2015 by Daxtreme
