Also of note is that it doubled its previous weekend in Denmark. European releases seem to have more volatile grossing patterns.

Plus, new records in France and Poland! Yay!

Fri - sun in week 7 are always much much bigger than week 6. Regardless when it opend..

But its pretty good none the less

Week 7? That's weird. Any particular reason?

Also, this is Zootopia's second weekend in Denmark, for what it's worth.

Zootopia got $0.05m in Thailand for 2 days of previews. (some selected theaters for 1-3 screenings per day), getting very good reviews and WOM from preview screenings here.

Movies hardly have limited previews like these here, so hard to judge what will be its final gross. (Animations normally don't do well here, the highest grossing WDAS movie here is Big Hero 6 at $1.8m)

So Zootopia is Croods 2.0.

1B (300+700) is totally possible.

WDA is such a monster-hit-maker.

Even if you assume it could get 300M domestic... how on earth do you figure 700M OS? It's 80M after two weeks in about half of its territories, I don't see how that can extend to 700M. Maybe 700M worldwide if it super lucky.

It's out in half of the markets ? how do you figure out ...

It's just normal that HLW blockbusters make 70% of their grosses from overseas, so if 300m DOM happens, 700m OS could happen too.

The last four WDA titles had OS ratio between 60~70% (Frozen OS was very close to 70%). With OS market expanding, expecting a 70% OVERSEAS box office ratio for Zootopia is very reasonable.

You're changing your statement. Your original post was based on its current performance overseas, you said as a result you think it can do 700M. Now you're claiming it is purely about the expected ratio.

I don't quite agree that it will be 30/70, but regardless I don't think zootopia is making 300M dom, not even close.

You're forgetting that the US Dollar is strong right now. That means boxoffice from places outside North America will be worth less.

HOLDOVERS
ZOOTOPIA
Disney’s animated charmer is in its 3rd week overseas with $81.4M to date. The Byron Howard/Rich Moore-helmed animal tale added another $30M in the frame, a 4% drop from last, with no major market openings. It’s playing in about 42% of its international rabbit’s footprint — 31 territories. France is lapping up the well-reviewed story of a sly fox and a perky bunny who hook up to uncover a conspiracy. The cume there is already $16.3M. In Korea, Zootopia hopped over Deadpool to take the No. 2 spot after jumping +30% from last weekend. The cume there is $7M. Plays across Europe, South East Asia and Latin America were all strong. Next weekend’s major bows are Germany, Russia and China.

It will bomb in Asian market. Too many references to the western culture. People there won't get some jokes. Just like inside out is totally based on a girl growing up in the Western countries, the parents moved a lot due to jobs or divorce but in most Asian countries, most families never move in their whole life. So you can't expect people there to resonate with the movie.

Holding great in South Korea and is doing strong in South East Asia. So much for bombing in Asia, huh? :P Don't underestimate this movie AND Asian market. You might be right about the culture differences, but it doesn't mean we cannot enjoy the movie to the point that it's bombing, because even though it's not doing big numbers, it's not bombing either.
