Do you remember when some people were predicting 120-130 opening and 400-450 total? good times...

Perfectly realistic given the quality of the prequels.

This is what happens when you make a good Star Wars movie.

159 mill shows fatigue?

Yep. People must be getting tired of Star Wars already. I'm just playing around prisoners. I understand what you are saying but that number is just an unspeakable ungodly massively ridiculously huge number for an opening weekend let alone a second weekend lol

As I said the demand is still there and will do an extraordinary number of 159m. But not 170-190.  The fatigue to for demand will show "at some point" soon, because it has sold  triple the tickets as avatar and therefore will not keep the avatar pace at these levels much longer. Just as Avatar of course started its decline earlier than titanic having sold more tickets than titanic early on. In other words, I'm forewarning it's holds will lessen compared to avatar. There won't be enough demand left to have next week's weekday increases like avatar but the numbers will still be huge. As for today we will not see a 100% bump, but 50m +79% should not be viewed as a dissapointment as some will deem it.

The fatigue will show in the comparisons. Not the run. I still think itll be close to 750m  by the 3rd and clear 1b.

I think TFA could take the record of most days consecutive days at number 1. Remember Avatar slipped up CMAS day when Sherlock beat it out by 1 mil. I think it will be number 1 each day until Ride Along 2 Friday.

I think it's number one until I come and slay in the movie I'm starring in this January.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS took in an estimated $27.59M on Thursday and has grossed $391.05M in 7 days domestically.

So... Following Avatar that's

Fri: 57.2m

Sat: 70m

Sun: 60.2m

2nd Weekend: 187.4m

Insane number if it can pull it off

That's just insane. Before this the record to $300m was 8-days (Jurassic World), in its 8th day TFA is hitting $400m.

You're using an arbitrarily assumed "ceiling" of demand, and working backwards from that to posit heavier-than-Avatar drops.

But doesn't it make more sense to let the evidence guide your analysis?  If there's a ceiling for demand, the drops (holds) so far clearly indicate that SW7 hasn't hit it.
