Biggestgeekever
Just because it fell less than Avatar doesn't necessarily mean the increase today will be less. Sherlock Holmes, which had drops TFA has been mirroring more closely since Sunday, decreased 10% on New Year's Eve and still went up 71%. Not to mention there were college playoffs this year, which (in theory) should have impacted grosses leading to higher Friday increases in general. KATCH-2D2
So.... $100m third weekend becomes a real possibility now?? This has tuned out to be the box office sprinter with an endurance of a long distance runner... Edited January 1, 2016 by KATCH-2D2
vc2002
Both TA1 and JW made 250m after a 100m 2nd wknd. SW7 will be around 750m after this wknd. So it's safe to say 1BN is locked?
Daxtreme
So 22.7? I'm fine with that. Sadly it won't top Jurassic World for calendar year but, you know... can't have everything edit: 22.7 according to Deadline ** Edited January 1, 2016 by Daxtreme

Of all the records this movie could have set and did set, that one isn't a terribly important one.
Caladbolg
$100m+ this weekend would be insanely epic. Some more records it could pass this weekend: $89,269,066- Winter and January Weekend Record (American Sniper) New Years Day- $25,274,008 (Avatar) Highest grossing day in January- $34,547,284 (American Sniper)

RogueLeader
DAMN MAN! I gotta say RTH is friggin incredibly. His numbers have been spot on for days now. Where does this guy get his info? He can see things before they happen ....... like Anakin! Seriously though, I've never seen same day estimate so well done. Bravo sir! As for the 23 million gross, that is pretty damn good for New Years Eve. Im still really wondering what it will be for this weekend though. Does RTH give predictions ahead of time? I want his thoughts on the weekend numbers. I'm hoping for 125 million. Too much to hope for?
JonathanLB
If it actually hits $23M that's several million above what i expected. Wow. That's really unreal. This movie never ceases to surprise. Jesus!

At the rate this film is going, it will likely be beaten THIS WEEKEND! I think a 100 million weekend is very likely and if TFA does that, it will have Avatar beaten. The movie is already less than 100 million to Avatar before the weekend has even started.
