13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi is as apolitical as a Michael Bay Benghazi movie could ever be. However, getting rid of that roadblock does make it a good movie. Indeed, paper-thin characters populate this world, ones that are interchangeable with everyone else. When members die, it's impossible to care since they all look, talk, and act exactly the same; why bother caring about their deaths when it's clear the screenwriter didn't care enough to make them actual characters? The action is cool at first, but then becomes repetitive, outside of some cool gore. Bay's style grates in an unusual way; the lack of comic relief is felt, and makes one realize that, even when the jokes are unfunny, that helps the Bay template go down easier. Unfortunately, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi commits the worst sin of filmmaking; it's incredibly boring and ultimately, highly forgettable. D-
