grey ghost 18,600 Posted January 21, 2016 Is this how Star Wars would perform in Western countries without nostalgia? Or is there are cultural gap?
Phil in the Blank 5,687 Posted January 21, 2016 Due to political reasons at the time (Mao's 'Cultural Revolution'), Star Wars was never released to cinemas in that country until recently so it never built up a fanbase. Now that they have been exposed to it it will be very interesting to see how Episode 8 plays over there.

Hmm that's a good question, but I think without nostalgia of Harrison Ford and all the cast returning, the force is indeed going to be less of a behemoth grey ghost. Still looking to do great numbers domestically and ww despite being a stand alone story.
