Mockingjay Raphael
http://deadline.com/2016/01/box-office-thursday-late-night-dirty-grandpa-the-fifth-wave-1201688128/ The 5th Wave, the Chloe Grace Moretz vehicle based on a YA novel, took in $475K from 2,297 locations in early shows this weekend, playing strongly to a teenage girl audience. This weekend is will be a fairly blah weekend and could get even dimmer as the East Coast braces for one of the worst storms of the season which will impact moviegoing. This is the time of year that the box office reporters and distribution executives also become weathermen. Even Sony noted this morning, “weather permitting” they are looking at an $8M weekend.

DAJK
Jeez, and I thought 870k for previews would be bad. Truly an epic bomb. Sony must be glad they were able to keep the budget under 40M.
AJG
Fifth Wave is one of those movies where the trailer bores the shit outta me. I get pissed when i see it. Moretz will recover though.

I don't think reviews has much impact on comedies, DH has a terrible score too and it's going to finish with a 3.0x multiple

Biiiiig difference. And the audience's reception to that movie was so much better than that of the critics. Under 10% is cause for concern. grim22
5th Wave will probably end its domestic run with O/U 20M, Dirty Grandpa might nudge over 10M or slightly more for OW.
Bishop54
Flop Queen Moretz.

Kind of an under the radar smash.
