I'm in the club that says 2011 was a weak year for films.

It's a slight movie, but I find it really hard to root against THE ARTIST. It's such a cute entertaining little movie and it really overcame insanely long odds to not only get released in the US, but to win anything at all.

Well, I thought The Hurt Locker was a terrific movie that deserved to win but point taken.

You mean one of the best movies of 2009 and easily the best movie about the Iraq war and a film that was on a chart of most netflixed films ever or something? Yeah, there's still a lot of respect for that film in the film buff world, who cares if everyone else didn't go for it as much?

Yeah, I agree, this was a weak year. In my opinion, TSN, TS3, Black Swan and Inception were all better than the 9 nominees from this year.

Hopefully 2012 can compete with 2010 as a great year. I'm thinking it'll be more of a 2007 situation though, where smaller artsy films are nominated. Either way for the love of God give PTA at least one Oscar
