Poor Pine, never will become a draw like Tommy Hardy

Even Hardy isn't a proven draw yet. Neither The Revenant or Mad Max were sold on him.

The likely bombing of The Finest Hours isn't surprising at all, really.

Legend was sold on his name alone and it was huge in the only country where it was released (UK)

That doesn't make him a draw in the U.S., though. He needs to anchor something sold entirely on him for that to happen.

I wonder if Universal regrets not delaying the release of Legend until like February or something after the soft-ish reviews came in and sold it as a mainstream offering to take advantage of Hardy's increased profile instead of keeping it over the holidays and allowing it get lost in a sea of Oscar contenders when it obviously wasn't one.

It was released in tons of places and bombed everywhere except the UK.

No, Lionsgate is actually promoting GOE. Disney's just letting Finest Hours go to waste like WB did with ITHOTS.

"Actually promoting" a movie means nothing when said movie doesn't look appealing.

Shhhh

You can't expect a movie about British gangsters to make huge numbers around the world, and actually, TR is being sold on his name too, at least the TV Ads always sell it as a movie of both Leonardo Dicaprio and the Oscar Nominated Tommy Hardy

The Revenant's box office gross is allllllll Leo.

Put Tom Hardy in his role and it doesn't even make $40M in total.

I know that it is doing well because of the man from Titanic, I'm just saying that the success of the movie will help to increase his star power even more, since his name is always present in the marketing
