Fox is betting that audiences will not get a load of Deadpool when the movie opens this weekend but will immediately want more, which is why the studio is already working on a sequel.

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote Deadpool, are writing the script for a follow-up, which has already been greenlit, insiders tell The Hollywood Reporter.

January 12, 2018? http://comicbook.com/2016/02/28/fox-announces-two-untitled-marvel-movies-one-possibly-a-deadpool/

Fox announced release dates of October 6, 2017 and January 12, 2018 for untitled Marvel films. Which one of those dates is likely for the Deadpool sequel? We're guessing that a Deadpool sequel might claim the January 12, 2018 release date, because of another piece of news that Fox announced.

Gambit had originally been scheduled for release on October 7, 2016, but Fox has canceled that release date for the film. It was widely predicted that Gambit would get delayed, since the film went through a change in director and has yet to start filming. Gambit is expected to start filming in New Orleans in March of this year. The October 6, 2017 release date would seem like a realistic new release date for Gambit.

Sounds plausible. Episode 8's late legs are going to get destroyed if Deadpool takes that spot.

The first took 11 months from filming to release but this will have a bigger budget, hard to say which of the two dates it lands on.

Depends on when they mean fall. If they start filming in September they could have it done by October 2017.  I guess it depends on when the other untitled X-Men film starts filming.

Collider, meanwhile, has an update from 20th Century Fox‘s side of the Marvel multiverse. On the red carpet for this week’s Saturn Awards, the outlet caught up with producer Simon Kinberg, who revealed that Deadpool 2 filming is planned for early 2017. It was previously confirmed that the entire creative team behind the first film will return. This includes star Ryan Reynolds, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and director Tim Miller. No official release date has been given, however.

:sadben: Guess Fox is going to remove that October 2017 Marvel date.

Less then 300 million.

Why's that? If 3D is added it'll at least match the first's gross

That would be so fucking funny.

People would complain for PC reasons though, funnily enough, as Deadpool has a not-so-subtle thing going on with Cable in the comics. Making him a female would kinda destroy that. It would be worth it just for the lulz though.

What a mess, hoping it s not too serious and they can find a solution.

The Passengers' mention is deep into the article, Jlaw was mo caped by the technology mentioned in the article which is having some serious legal trouble.

This article pretty much says that Colossus was done by this technology on Deadpool. I wonder if this will have a big effect on Deadpool 2.

Out of curiosity, what do you have against Fox?

I doubt it. The first Deadpool was a huge success and Deadpool 2 is one of the more anticipated films in the next few years. And Deadpool is one of Marvel's top selling comic books. Add in possible 3D and higher ticket prices, I'll be shocked if this misses 300 million. I don't think it can pass the first one because typically sequels end up less than the original.
