I'm not feeling Gambit right now. Not necessarily because of Tatum, but because I've read they're not being modest with the budget like they were for Deadpool. Does a Gambit movie sound exciting now in the wake of Deadpool?

What if...

Deadpool was in it?!

If they move forward with Gambit, Fox will have a flop that will kill the momentum from Deadpool. They need to focus on Deadpool and X-Force.

They need to make him a bad ass. Looked like a weakling in X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE.

The number by itself is ridiculously crazy but consider this:

It's R Rated

It has no 3D

It's February

It only had a theater count of 3,558. No film in the Top 20 All time biggest opening weekends has had less than 4,004.

The average theater gross is $37,957 which is higher than The Dark Knight ( $36,283 ), The Dark Knight Rises ( $36,532 ) and The Hunger Games ( $36,871 ).

I'm literally in disbelief at what has transpired this weekend.

All the records Deadpool broke (according to Wikipedia and Box Office Mojo):

R-rated previews (12.7M vs. 10.8M by The Hangover II)

February previews (12.7M vs. 8.6M by Fifty Shades)

February IMAX previews (2.3M vs. 123K by Jupiter Ascending)

R-rated IMAX previews (2.3M vs. 1.04M by Prometheus)

R-rated OD (47.5M vs. 42M by The Matrix Reloaded)

February OD (47.5M vs. 30.2 by Fifty Shades)

February OW (135M vs. 85M by Fifty Shades)

R-rated OW (135M vs. 91M by Matrix Reloaded)

R-rated comic book adaptation OW (135M vs. 71M by 300)

R-rated superhero OW (135M vs. 55M by Watchmen)

Winter OW (135M vs. 89M by American Sniper)

20th Century Fox OW (135M vs. 108M by Revenge Of The Sith)

Holiday/Long weekend OW (135 vs. 114 by POTC At World's End)

R-rated PLF OW (17.6M vs. 8.7M by American Sniper)

It seems all of those records forgot to wear the brown pants.

SW Ep. III Revenge Of The Sith ($108M) and X-Men The Last Stand ($102M).

Deadpool beat ROTS's record by nearly $30M. Every bit as insane as Heath Ledger's Joker.

To be fair, ROTS opened on a (full) Thursday (highest opening Thursday ever). It made $158M with it included.

EDIT

Not to take anything away from Deadpool. Crazy numbers.

Some of those are reasonably old records as well, just insanity.
