I hope somebody starts a monday box office thread soon. I'm curious to find out from the experts on this site whether deadpool's 72% drop for monday is as bad as it looks for projecting the movie's final take.

Created. All movies had ugly drops and it was the same case last year, I wouldn't worry.

I'm new to this site and I'm not completely familiar with when and how weekday international numbers drop. Do we have to wait till the end of the week to find out Deadpool's international Monday numbers and whether or not it crossed 500 million total today?

Likely, the studio will have a press release shortly after the #s are confirmed for $500m. I would expect something like an announcement in a day or two at most.

The studio usually puts  out the number when they hit a milestone.

Is there a domestic thread for The Mermaid? It's a friggen monster in China and is off to a strong start in limited release here despite a rushed distribution deal and next to no marketing. Has a real chance to crack the worldwide top ten for the year

If it keeps going like this, $325m-$350m is definitely in the cards.

Even assuming that the current week only pushes it to 255 (should be a bit higher than that), it could take 50% weekly drops from there on out and still get to 330. 44% drops would push it past 350. 40% drops would have it above 365.

400m would need 34% drops, which probably won't happen, but I guess the dream still is alive. One or two good holds and it could make a run for it.

Isn't 330 million pretty much locked at this point?

Pretty much. I think the weeks will go like this:

Remainder of this week: 20M (256.8M total)

Feb 26: 30M (10M weekdays, 296.8M total)

Mar 4: 14M (4.8M weekdays, 315.6M total)

Mar 11: 6.7M (2.6M weekdays, 324.9M total)

Mar 18: 3.6M (1.4M weekdays, 329.9M total)

Mar 25: 2M (800k weekdays, 332.7M total)

At this point it's going to be O/U GOTG.

pretty solid / average monday from the looks of things. school is back in proper and nothing to far out of the ordinary.... I am wondering if Revenant can make it to 170 through Sunday - would be the first "blockbuster" proper in a while to win BP if it does. (And it's keeping pretty steady at -5m behind the Gladiator comparison on Mojo so thats great considering the differing season as well as a vastly different market.
