Wow, that's truly horrible for BVS, if it gets confirmed.

Might make less than 20 million this weekend, if it keeps going at this pace. :(

I think 900 million worldwide is out of reach now, which would be embarassing for WB. Not a flop, but dissapointing anyway.

The Boss opening with $20M just goes to show, along with Tammy, that McCarthy is one of the few stars remaining capable of drawing in people despite poor reviews.

These four are the only ones left with draw power:

Will Ferrell

Leo

The Rock

Melissa McCarthy

Mark Wahlberg is close to that list. Passengers will test Pratt's ability (Lawrence couldn't save Joy). Matt Damon is making a bit of a comeback, The Great Wall will be interesting to see play out next year.

JLaw doesn't have draw power? Lol. Joy opened with 18M being sold as JLAW THE MOVIE.

What so many of you seem to overlook is that this is just the beginning. This was to launch their DC world. The profit is just part of the equation.

I bet most realize this. But a film double-billed with both Batman and Superman should have been a mega-blockbuster, something on the order of the Avengers or Jurassic World, at the least $500 million DOM, with $1B WW being a foregone conclusion. This should have been the box office Mothership of future DC movies, and it clearly isn't going to be.

Or else if it is, the DC universe isn't going to be as profitable as WB wants it to be.

Yeah, she probably powered that movie higher than any other actress would have. There's only so much a somewhat tepidly-reviewed film about the inventor of the Miracle Mop (that was backed with a marketing campaign that did everything to hide that) with no awards buzz can make.

Sorry dude, you're a good poster and all but this is a pretty silly post.  Saying that Jennifer Lawrence couldn't save Joy and that means she's not a draw is like saying that because the Buffalo Bills lost 4 straight Super Bowls they were a shitty team.

No actor is going to make every movie a success.  There are a litany of factors that go into it.  I could name a box office disappointment for every actor, even the ones you listed.  And The Rock...please......are we that myopic that we forget films like Faster and Pain and Gain and Snitch?

You are way way way off base here.

Ehhhhhhhhhh

He can still open a movie. Oblivion reaching nearly 40M on OW (and no, Kurylenko or Freeman were not part of that :P) and the only reason EoT wasn't considered a break out was because it carried such a massive price tag.

To be fair, the combined starpower of Whalberg and Johnson likely sold far more tickets to Pain & Gain, a dark comedy about an especially unpleasant real life story, than it would've otherwise sold.

Snitch had pretty strong legs though.

looking at those its not that bad at all. BvS is also not a summer movie. This thread is just pathetic though with all this biased hate towards the movie. its doing quite fine for such a pretty dark movie. JL will be more "fun" its already confirmed so it will have way better repeat views
