There's no way you could justify spending $300M (200 production plus 100 p&a) on any movie, not even Black Panther 2. There would simply be no guarantees that the audience would come back. I think it's that she says what people want to be true. So many want to see BW asap they've deluded themselves into thinking Disney would lose a fuckton in revenue just so they can watch the movie. They're thinking about it from their POV and wanting to get their fix and not from a business POV. People are always more willing to believe something that benefits them like this. It's pretty hilarious watching people claim that since there's no new movies out Disney should do this to make us happy, like they care about that more than money.

 

Lol @ her doubling down on it while also saying it might not happen. Love that she can never be fully proven wrong with that little bit in there.

 This. Absolutely this. It's backtracking and crossing fingers that no one will remember.

 

Also, she cites her Obi Wan show scoop as leverage for BW/Mulan scoop but that's not the same thing. Show production delay and claim that 2 mega blockbusters will go streaming, when they can easily be rescheduled, are 2 different things. When BW claims a date, movies around it will move. Simple. BW is the behemoth, that's how the system works. You move out of the way not to get stomped.

Balfe makes more sense for something like this than Desplat did, but the original reported composer Henry Jackman probably made the most sense
