Here in Indonesia, The Conjuring 2 is a blockbuster. Sold out shows everywhere, even when it's playing in multiple screens. The demon nun is really popular right now. There are memes of it (him/her?) all over social media and the internet. Somehow we LOVE horror movies, especially the Conjuring series. The first movie was a huge hit. And then Annabelle was so popular that it was in the top 5 yearly box office chart. I think this will be even bigger considering how good the WOM is, with people saying it's one of the scariest horror movies ever.

By the end of the weekend it should reach around 210m WW and close to 140m OS. By the end of the next weekend it should beat TC's OS total.

THE CONJURING 2
Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson scared up another $41.9M offshore this frame to take the international total to $116.2M in 57 markets. The James Wan thriller has been in overseas release for about two weeks and has already surpassed the lifetime grosses of the first film in the series as well as comp Annabelle in over 15 markets including Argentina, Mexico ($16M) and Hong Kong. In like-for-like markets, the results are 68% ahead of The Conjuring and 35% over Annabelle. The UK got off to a haunting $6.7M start on 780 screens after opening Monday. Spain was a solid No. 1 with $1.9M and 50% of the Top 5 films. Excluding sneaks, results are 27% above The Conjuring and +40% bigger than Annabelle. Russia also bested the comps with a $1.7M start on 1,087 screens. In Germany, the WB/New Line sequel is neck-and-neck with New Line/Universal’s Central Intelligence — each claiming the eventual win with an estimated $2M apiece. Both films played to the audience not watching Germany’s Euro 2016 match on Thursday night. Other leading cumes include Brazilat $8.6M and Korea with $7.7M. Rollout continues in Italy and France in the next weeks.

Keeping the supernatural scares coming, New Line/Warner Bros’ sequel has zoomed past $150M internationally to cume $156M after adding $21M on 9,250 screens this frame. Italy was the major new opener at No. 1 with $1M on 372 screens. The UKconsulted a further $2.2M for an $11M total which bests the lifetime of Annabelle and puts it 8% ahead of the first Conjuring at the same point in release.

Spain ($3.8M cume) and Germany ($3.5M cume) held well against new openers while Indonesia continued its record-breaking run with a wild $11.3M total. That bests the first Conjuring by 53% and Annabelle by 46%. Indonesia is the film’s 4th best offshore market; 1-3 are: Mexico ($18.7M), Korea ($11.5M) and India ($11.4M). The UK is No. 5.
