:wintf: But Transformers: Age of Extinction China gross was $320 mln.

F&F8 should be over $900 mln OS next weekend, and over $1B maybe 2 weeks later. $1,1B is still possible. + $230-235 mln DOM.

It passed Transformers in Yuan on Saturday, as of today 2190 versus 1980 for TF4

$744M OS. Excellent! ????

Now it's being joined with the franchises of MCU, Middle Earth & Transformers....to have more than 1 movie in a franchise to earn over $700M+ OS.

MCU = 4 movies over $700M+ OS (Counting the solo-movies)

Middle Earth = 4 movies over $700M+ OS.

Transformers = 2 movies over $700M+ OS.

Fast and the Furious = 2 movies over $700M+ OS.

The film overtook Transformers: Age Of Extinction (2bn RMB) to rank as the second highest grossing US release of all time behind Fast & Furious 7 (2.4bn RMB).

The global powerhouse ranks number one everywhere and has grossed $29.9m in Mexico, followed by $29.3m in the UK. Brazil is holding strong on $26.2m, Germany on $24.4m, Russia on $23.4m, India on $19.2m, and South Korea on $19.1m.

So F8 is gonna pass Titanic's original OS (1.2b) or not?

I don't think there is much of a chance for that.

FF7 "only" made 1.163b or so, and FF8 is doing worse than that movie in most of the markets. With China not changing much from the last one, there is little chance of keeping the same level, much less improving on it.

No chance, it's gonna be around 950M OS. Remember GOTG is opening in a lot of markets next weekend compared to FF7 having month with no blockbuster comp.

OS-China

April 16: 235

April 23: 425 (+190)

With GotG and its staggered marvel OS opening over the next 2 weekends I could see pretty hefty drops, more or less like this:

April 30: 500 (+75)

May 7: 535 (+35)

May 14: 555 (+20)

May 21: 565 (+10)

May 28: 570 (+5)

Rest: 575

Plus 390 from China and 10-20 from Japan puts it up to about 975 total.

I must say, the days required by F8 to break $1b was little longer than i expected

Agree, I was thinking that it would beat F7's 17-day-to-1-billion third place record, but I guess no.

Even if does it on Friday (17 days in release), we will have to see how much it made in cume to pass F7.

Still going to be faster than Avatar though.
