Great opening for CW, but now I'm even more confident that Rogue One can beat this movie's domestic gross.

People love Star Wars. Its such a huge part of the American culture filmwise. 40 years and still as popular as ever. The trailer got so much applause. The enthusiasm is definitely there.

Don't forget guys that Rogue one will definitely not be as big internationally as TFA, but domestically, Star Wars is the shit

America's gonna eat it up.

Never bet against Star Wars.

It is a Captain American vs. Iron Man movie and was sold as such.  All of the advertising from the posters to commercials is built on Team Captain vs. Team Iron Man.

Do I really need to start pulling images to see how plain as day this movie was sold?

Wow, thiSi laughable revisionism at its highest. Loads of Tv spots and posters focused on all the characters. Not just Cap and Iron Man. Not to mention an Iron Man movie alone opened to 174m . Just him alone added a huge boost

I'm not betting against it but I find the trailer rather dull, maybe because the lead came off serious and dreary and everything else a well except for Forrest hamming it up with his one eye.   I need some JEJ Darth Vader to get interested or at least R2D2.

Rogue One's been a lock to win DOM in 2016 since the glowing reception of Force Awakens. Doesn't hurt that it ties into the OT as well. I'm thinking $550M+ is the floor unless it's poorly received.

So half way through into 2016 which many thought would be the best CBM year nothing extraordinary happend

BvS will finish around 333M dom and 875-880M, CW around 1.2B

I think X-Men is gonna be one of the most least successful in the franchise, and SS might be a huge surprise.
