TMNT2 will work as a weekend movie. Clearly only families give a fuck, the rest of the audience that showed up in 2014 doesn't care anymore.

A lot of schools are still in, and action films like this always have deflated weekdays. TMNT is relatively fine.

But is it? It's dropping at least 55% this weekend and Dory will almost assuredly cause everything to have monster drops.

Don't worry, the underperformance of everything shall continue until whenever Deadpool 2 comes out so maybe legs will be a bit better? Jk, they will be at best Civil War level

I doubt this. Big openers usually don't cause other movies to crater unless they have a huge overlap in demographics or one movie is so underperforming that they lose a ton of theaters the same weekend.

At least when IO opened to 90.4m last year AND JW topped with 106.5m, the holdovers seemed fine.

It'll likely be around $60m by the end of the weekend, perhaps a bit more, likely around a $14m second weekend. It should eventually get to $85-90m at least. Not a great run by any means, but not quite an unmitigated disaster. Summer weekdays aren't benefitting TMNT as much, clearly, but summer still helps.
