Yes for The marketing but The quality... Sure ahead minions

Well, you are entitled to your opinion.  So far the audiences who have seen it seem to like it.....I'm on my way to see it now...should be better than Dory at least. :)

Even if Pets does break the OW animated film record, it'll likely have mediocre legs, it wouldn't be shocking if it didn't break $300m

I doubt it will have mediocre legs.

It's not getting animated OW record, original Animated OW record is in play, however.

Looks like today is the day Civil War's running total falls below IM3 @No Prisoners @a2knet

Just 38k between them going into the weekend.

Yeah. IM3 had a +10% bump on Sat and -48% hold on Sun.

I hoping that on Sat and Sun CW will do better than +10%/-48% and match IM3 again.

But yes, right now gut says CW looking at 408.1-408.6m, 0.5-1m behind IM3. I am hopeful that at 408m+ Disney will wanna push it.

72% RT audience score with 3.8/5 is not very encouraging for an animated movie.

Everything is a retread since Homer's time. That's why we're a sucker for remakes.

"Hey, this movie looks a bit derivative."

"Oh, yeah? Homer!"

It'll be interesting to see if Storks, Moana, Trolls and Sing can be solid hits. I think Storks will be over $100m for sure and I think Sing while I think it won't reach the heights of Pets and DM/Minions will be $140-150m domestically unless it really sucks

Trolls looks like a flop to me. Not really sure about Stork's though.

The second trailer was a massive improvement on the teaser so it could go either way. Storks I think will be in the same range as the other September animated films, it depends on how M7 and Miss Peregrine does OW wise.

2.5 would be an awful multi, I think it'll closer to a 3

If it gets anywhere near what it's projected to make this weekend (70-100M) then a 2.5 isn't bad. Sure, it would be disappointing but it'd still make money. I do think it'll get closer to a three.

It's an animated movie that'll be received well enough. Legs will be fine. Not Dory great or IO great but just fine. People are goofy. Good to see another summer blockbuster breakout as opposed to a disappointment.
