They're all a success this year.  Three movies that will do $300m/$800m+ WW.  The MCU's output (~$2.5B) this year was better than the entire slates of some major studios this year.

 

Adding Hulk (and part of his great Planet Hulk story) to Thor was a big boon and he was a far greater part of the film than IM in SM:HC.  

 

Both benefit from being part of a very successful MCU with a stable of successful characters that the audience likes to see interact and crossover.

Sure, each MCU is nearly guaranteed to be a success, but while many could expect 800m from Spidey, being one of the big three, Thor, even with Hulk, and having, IMHO, two mediocre predecessors, was not expected to be in position for being the biggest CBM of the year WW. Concerning SH films, Wonder Woman is the story of the year domestically, but Thor is the nice surprise OS. Of course, it is just my impression.

Give SMH horrible reviews and you can you end up with 15 million less opening weekend and BvS legs.

 

Which equals 200 m DOM.

 

Then there would be drops OS as well.
