I've always thought this movie would be good for a remake. I like to the original and I would definitely be interested to see what they do with the remake.

Having starred in the 1990 original, Kiefer Sutherland is returning to the world of Flatliners, with Deadline reporting that the actor has signed on for a role in the upcoming remake from director Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).

Sutherland will portray a seasoned doctor in the film, and joins a cast that includes Ellen Page (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Diego Luna (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries), James Norton (War & Peace) and Kiersey Clemens (Dope).

Flatliners follows a group of medical students who conduct near-death experiments to explore the afterlife, leading to disastrous consequences. The original was directed by Joel Schumacher and starred Sutherland alongside Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin and Oliver Platt.

I think the original was really good and the premise is interesting enough that even if you have no connection to the original this could be a good enough look to get you into the theater. I hope they do it right and if they do I think this could be a decent-sized hit perhaps like the shallows or something in like that in terms of box office.

So The Dark Tower will move to that spot? Another Sony film which just got pushed to "summer 2017"...August is still technically summer..

Dark Tower's going into Jumanji's old spot (7/28), and Jumanji's pushed to Christmas.
