Great trailer. But then again, so was the original teaser (best animated movie teaser trailer of all time) and the film wasn't so good. So, fingers crossed that Illumination get it truly right this time.

Why the hell is Universal marketing this more heavily than Grinch?  

Like, trailers every month... we're 8 months out and it already feels like we won't be seeing the end of this marketing campaign. And The Grinch had... billboards.

The first film had a knock out trailer but every single decent joke was in the trailer and the actual film fell flat (for me).

can filmmakers independently make other animated pets movies almost exactly like this one and release them with the intention of making 300 million domestic?

Considering that the first SLOP is a poor man's Toy Story with pets why not?
