Ezen Baklattan
Director: Ash Brannon Cast: Luke Wilson, JK Simmons, Eddie Izzard, Lewis Black, Kenan Thompson, Mae Whitman, Sam Elliot, Matt Dillon, Jorge Carcia This has been hyped as the first major American-Chinese co production of a CGI animated film, but it recently bombed in China due to it apparently being caught in a war with investors. I doubt it will fare much better in the states, especially on the heels of Lego Batman.

Arlborn
Why does the poster say "coming 2016"?
Ezen Baklattan
It was pushed as the first big Chinese/American co-production of an animated film (it was actually animated by ReelFX, who also did Free Birds (lol) and The Book of Life) - it's easy to tell with the English director and voice cast. The film got released in China earlier this year and completely tanked due to being at the short end of the stick of an investment dispute. It's a miracle this is getting a theatrical release in the US, but it'll be super lucky to hit $50m.

cannastop
The art direction (especially the color design) and the character design are actually really good for this movie. Has anyone pointed out that this movie is funded with Chinese money, but animated in the USA?

That's an interesting factoid, the reverse of what happens in other industries where things are financed by American money and made in China.
