So it seems like JASON BOURNE just sort of came and went, or at least, this has to be the quietest action movie with Damon that would almost rival BOURNE LEGACY it seems... So I guess the concensus on that is that maybe they should've just left well enough alone or what???

It's the worst of Damon's Bourne.

Count me in on the Sausage Party previews train. Doing very very well in this area, few 7pm shows almost sold out already. But for what it's worth I expect a Suicide Squad-level IM for this one.

Just remember though it's only at 9.5% on MT so clearly there's no interest in it!! *sarcasm*

@a2knet So it a tumble but for some reason GiteshPandya said it will do 175 and it's doing 180.

I swear these bloggers and Guru's are twisting good news into bad news.

Even if SS gross 48mil this weekend it will still be 50+ ahead of gotg.

I think Gitesh has actually been pretty upbeat about SS :)

(That 175+ was just a prediction after the OW or after Monday came in.)

Yeah, SS is doing well.

Even if Thu drops to 8.5-8.8 (10-13% drop), it will need "only" a 42-45% bump for 12.5 Fri/43M weekend. Can't see lower than that right now.

45 will take it to 225 cume. Solid 10 days.

That is seemingly a low-end estimate. What do you think a more realistic or favorable estimate might work out to?

@Nova So I should be reading an Deadline article at 8.am talking about the 10+ mil SP does in Thursday pre shows *sarcasm.

Here in New Orleans we have the weakest movie chains there is SP haven't even sold out in a theater with only 12 screens.

Last week Suicide squad had them adding screens.

SS is not a valid comparison to SP. SS did $20.5M last Thursday. SP would be a great success at $2M for Thursday shows.

completely different expectations.

umm no. Because $10M in previews for an R-rated comedy is insane and would indicate a $100M+ OW. No one here is talking about a $100M+ OW. Once again, it's very clear to me that you have no idea how pre-sales or previews work for films like comedies and horror films considering the fact that youre comparing SP to SS. Of course SS is going to have huge preview numbers. Thats how comic book and superhero movies are like. Comedies and horror movies don't work that way and typically have better IM as a result so just a quick lesson: comedies and horror movies are walk-up films so their pre-sales are not indicative of what their OW will be like because those types of films have weak pre-sales. Their preview numbers will also be way way way smaller than your average comic book film which I have no doubt you'll be comparing SP to but their internal multipliers will be larger. Do you understand now? Or do you want to continue to talk about something that you have no idea what the heck youre talking about?
