It's between her and Emma Stone in La La Land among contenders that have actually been seen so far. Viola of course could knock it out of the park once her film is seen, like it appears she has from the trailer alone.

I think of the main contenders seen so far, it would be Portman and Emma, though comparing the two I wouldn't say Emma really is a contender, more like another potential seen nominee a la Isabelle Huppert, Streep, and a couple others. I think Viola is the only one that could potentially knock Portman off course, but with election fever, playing an American Icon, and the film probably being top 5 BP contender, I Think it'll be difficult. But realistically Viola will be Portman's only potential hiccup.

I think her voice would annoy me too much for the whole film.

It's not annoying in the movie. It's jarring because you're not used to the 1960s East Coast Old Money accent, but after about 3 minutes it just sounds natural. I think the voice and her eyes are the two most important parts that really made her Jackie in the movie. Could not for a moment recognise she was Portman. She was Jackie 100%.

I think it's be really difficult for Streep to get in this year given that her movie was a summer release that made little at the box office and won't be in contention for anything else, Actress looks stacked as hell, and Paramount already has two other serious contenders in the race for that category (Adams and Davis) for movies that will have more going for them.

Ya I used Streep as my generic potential nominee because I was blanking on other contenders LOL. But ya, I see Emma more on the same level as like Adams and Huppert and whoever else is in the race right now. And Davis yet to be determined pending the full film.

It's not really a biopic. It deals strictly with the day of and the week following the assassination, that's all.

Not sure what porn acting is. Portman is in every scene though and does all the work. All other actors are glorified bit parts.

But just because she's on screen 99% of the time, doesn't automatically mean it's another Iron Lady where the whole point is the main lead to impress with acting gymnastics and "transform" with the help of ridiculous make up so people will say "omg she looks just like.....". At least the trailer is selling a much more interesting movie than this.

I don't really care for biopics, maybe that's why it looks like a Lifetime movie of the week to me. Still, I do like Portman so there is a chance I might see it in theaters.

i wish there was a year where one of the woman-led "awards movies" didn't get lifetime movie comparisons when they never make any sense.

Well, you know the old saying: "Wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which one fills up first.":2c:
