Way too many Horror films (this is what the 4th in a month?) not to mention, well reviewed Horror films this year for people to get overly excited about a mediocre reviewed reboot/sequel whatever.

It's horror fatigue. Agreed way too many, Ouija 2/Rings combo will be interesting then that one Sony horror film. Don't Breathe has broken out big time! Blair Witch just relied on some so-called fanbase, which word of mouth for the original is not very good. Critics liked it, audiences don't as much like it because of it being fake.

I think Ouija 2 is going to perform ok, Rings is gonna flop though.

Blair Witch is looking to be Scream 4 all over again. A horror sequel/reboot that came way, way too late.

I remember when there were 50 million OW predictions for Scream 4. I never expected that but I at least figured it could get around 30 million. That's still one of my most disappointed runs.

I don't think it's horror fatigue so much as it is bad horror fatigue.

Think about the big horror hits so far: The Conjuring 2, Lights Out, Don't Breathe... they're all certified fresh and well regarded.

Micro budget horror has made it so there's an absolute ton of horror on the calendar.  Audiences can be selective.  Blair Witch is performing like an average horror movie because... it's an average horror movie.  If you've already gotten your horror fix from Don't Breathe, you could easily choose to skip over a rehash like Blair Witch with mediocre reviews and wait for the next option.

Ouija 2 stands a chance because it could be good due to Flanagan but Rings is going to get buried... because it looks like garbage.  Thankfully horror fans don't have to pay for garbage these days.
