Pumbaa actually looks a bit like Seth Rogen

Mufasa bumping heads with Sarabi in that TV spot is the most realistic effect I've seen in years.

Literally I screamed at that bit!

It looks so fluffy and adorable, I just hope there's many more moments like it, since that will ease the slight lack of facial character.

The only complaint from the film so far. I know this is what reality is, but Pumba was a red pig. Make him red and less hairy.

They should've made him look like this

Warthog.jpg

At least give him more color and make him cuter

The one we have will scare the kids

I continue to be so conflicted about this because I'm. So. Tired. Of all the remakes. But OTOH Jon Favreau. And the GGI looks absolutely incredible. But OTOH it lacks the warmth and expressiveness of the original animatio. OTOH, Beyonce. OTOH, the most blatant cash grab of all time. But let's be real, I'm probably going to watch it anyways because I'm a hypocrite like that.

I'm sorry, the only complaint?

Well the CGI looks great by the only thing we need to hear noun is the music. If that is a success then this movie is going to be massive. Deservedly so. Thank God Disney hire Jon and his team from The Jungle Book for this.

Not shocking for a movie tracking for 200+ OW already. This is an huge event film.

Everything about this movie looks so blank and emotionless.

Why would anyone want to pay money to see this National Geographic Documentary lol

It is easy to write off the remake as destined to be emotionless, and not able to capture the original. In one sense, that will be true, because there are things you can do with animation that you cannot do with live action/photorealistic CGI.

But this has the potential to stand on its own merits and to be an affecting experience in its own way. Lions in particular have highly developed expressive movements and behaviours, and the latest commercial that was posted gives me a sense of how this could play out on screen in a potentially effective way. It won't be the animated original, but it could be a great film nonetheless. The voice work and music will also be important.

Of the Disney live action remakes, this one has me the most intrigued, I would say. And what we've seen of the CGI is remarkable.

Peace,

Mike
