THE LION KING | WITH DIGITAL FUR TECHNOLOGY | July 19 2019 | Jon Favreau Photorealistic CGI Remake | Soulless Cash Grab to end all Soulless Cash Grabs

Recommended Posts

it's amazing just how much of the design gets lost in the translation to live action. Nala is just a regular indistinct lion yet her hand drawn animation character is instantly recognisable... but that above ^ is just any generic lion.

every time I see a shot or clip from this film I just get more depressed.

This is the only of the Disney cartoon-to-live-action-remakes i may be interested in.

I might not be in the minority. I believe this is gonna be pretty big...

@aabattery Favs managed to make a warthog look appealing. I guess he really is a visionary.

I've seen most of the movie. All i can say is that it has a different vibe to The Jungle Book, way more epic and artistically mesmerizing in every single frames. If there's any problems that has to do with its box office, quality won't be one of them

Jungle Book and this put MPC at the forefront of the CGI game IMO.

Nothing else comes close currently.

So long ILM ...

I'll see this on an airplane a few years from now, how it was meant to be viewed

This is a key problem with making the characters in TLK look photo-realistic. Warthogs are not pleasant to look at.

Pumbaa actually looks a bit like Seth Rogen

Mufasa bumping heads with Sarabi in that TV spot is the most realistic effect I've seen in years.

Literally I screamed at that bit!

It looks so fluffy and adorable, I just hope there's many more moments like it, since that will ease the slight lack of facial character.

The only complaint from the film so far. I know this is what reality is, but Pumba was a red pig. Make him red and less hairy.
