Not entirely true. What about Ghibli, Hosoda and Shinkai?

I consider those one of the long established names in Japan.

yeah lol this movie's just a dumb copy. if you're gonna do it the same shot for shot what's the point amirite?

wait they changed something? that's fucked up! why aren't they keeping it the same????

Is everything completely black & white in your view?  Changing a few details while otherwise plagiarizing another work is still just as soulless and creatively bankrupt.  In school, did you copy encyclopedia articles except for changing a few words?  Did that make it right?  I'm kidding, but this is analogous.

And if one of those changes in this case is, in fact, the removal of "Be Prepared" then that would be incredibly stupid for the box office (the movie as a whole is by definition stupid for other reasons regardless).  Not that I'd expect any better from people who evidently would do anything for a buck like these filmmakers, though.  What they're doing is even worse than The Lion King having been overly "inspired" by Kimba the White Lion--way worse, and that was awful enough.  It's not a matter of legality in this case, but that's hardly the only standard that matters.

Wasn't it later reported that Be Prepared was in the film?

Edit: A DisInsider report claimed it was, at least.

Edit 2: Entertainment Weekly is claiming it as well:

"Be Prepared" definitely wasn't listed among the included songs originally, so unless there was a transcription error, at one point it had been left out.  However, they could always have changed their minds, considering the negative response this news has received.  There are even more recent sources that claim the song is missing, although this could be based on outdated information.

Why should it?

It's a soulless cash grab.

A or A+ for sure. Everything received from it looks fantastic so far and it already has huge hype

it's not on their website but apparently the lion king got A+ so would not be surprised given that theyve changed very little about the film. (or at least if that is indeed the case and not just marketing)

Holy crap this is starting with more showtimes for Thursday night than Endgame started with at my AMC. It has 61 showtimes and is being put on it looks like 24 out of 30 screens.

So was Code Geass, and that grossed under $10 million. Outside of the super established franchises like Conan, Doraemon, etc, anime movies surprisingly don't gross that much in Japan.

Continuation for that series was unnecessary

In a perfect world this wouldn’t exist. This is no better what Eisner suggested doing to the Disney library in CGI, this is the same but realistic.

But the GA should eat this crap up.

No, he needs to keep making The Mandalorian for the foreseeable future. 👍

Not sure what this film will do at the box office but one of the trending searches on Yahoo was "African Safari Trips" so, who knows? We never saw a surge for antique cowboy toys, persian rugs, or metal gauntlets so this could mean SOMETHING?
