kayumanggi
RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION made 197.8 M overseas in 2012. Edited April 2, 2017 by kayumanggi
Mockingjay Raphael
Also of note, Sony opened Resident Evil: The Final Chapter in Japan, well ahead of the rest of the world, and grabbed the No. 1 slot with $9.65M for the four-day on 786 screens. That bests the recent start of Rogue One and is the highest-ever debut for a Resident Evil movie in Japan (+112% over Retribution/+110% over Afterlife). The franchise typically overindexes there, particularly thanks to Japan being the IP’s provenance. This is the top market on each of the previous installments. Further rollout begins January 25 in Korea. http://deadline.com/2016/12/rogue-one-star-wars-story-great-wall-china-dangal-aamir-khan-sing-international-box-office-christmas-weekend-1201875735/
Mockingjay Raphael
I'm surprised with these numbers. I thought it was locked to decrease pretty much everywhere, I know that it's just one market, but it seems that there are enough interest for another $200m+ OS grosser if China delivers.

StephenN18
I believe the film will earn a minimum of $200 million internationally. It should make $250 million worldwide minimum. My prediction is $280-285 million.

Krissykins
Last night at opening night in the UK it was pretty quiet. The 7pm showing was about 40% full. I don't think it will pull an Underworld Blood Wars and miss the top 10 though, lol.
Mrstickball
LTTP, but I think it has a shot at doing pretty well in China.. Where's consensus on if it surpasses the previous franchises' $198m OS haul?
Krissykins
How can Resident Evil get released in China? What about the Supernatural ban? Or can they get round this with it's a virus?

If Doctor Strange managed to get released in China, I don't know why Resident Evil can't.
